I've resolved myself not to complain about the taxi prices and just go and enjoy!! A tip the woman at Mears gave me - call ahead for a taxi and you can by-pass having the concierge hail you a cab. I can do a round-trip taxi to the parks for $20-$40.subtract $25/day in parking costs and the cost of the rental car (best I can find is $30/day with taxes) and we'll come out ahead with the taxis. Parking at the Marriott World Center is $13 per day (self park). I called Mears directly and you can take a one-way cab to Magic Kingdom for around $15-$18 Animal Kingdom the same Epcot $8-$10. Disneys Animal Kingdom Lodge and Orlando World Center Marriott are both rated very highly by those who travel for a living. Anyway, after researching, I've determined that taking cabs is the way to go. See 2,612 traveler reviews, 2,024 candid photos, and great deals for Holiday Inn Resort Orlando Suites - Waterpark, an IHG Hotel, ranked 182 of 385 hotels in Orlando and rated 3.5 of 5 at Tripadvisor. Anyway, I've been frustrated with the transportation issues at the Marriott World Center (no free shuttle, sounds like parking is a nightmare and expensive). Now 79 (Was 221) on Tripadvisor: Holiday Inn Resort Orlando Suites - Waterpark, an IHG Hotel, Orlando. The only reason we are staying there is my husband has a meeting there and really wants to be on-site for his meeting. My family is going to stay at the Marriott World Center in January 09. I know I'm too late to provide an answer to the original person who wrote this question, but I thought I might be able to help someone perusing the boards.
